Walk with Daddy

On Saturdays when mommy goes to work Kade gets to play all day with daddy. From what I hear he doesn't cry or fuss the whole day, I think it's cause he loves spending time with daddy so much he only wants to be happy and play. This last Saturday was such a nice day Andy strapped kade in his stroller and took him on a walk to see the horses which live at the end of the road. Kade is still to small to be afraid of them so he just stares up at them with big eyes or he grins at them. Anyway, there's two huge hills not including our steep driveway, so if you let it, the stroller goes really fast. So of course Andy lets him go speedy fast down the hills... boy like to play rough. Kade thinks it's great fun. Good thing I'm not there I guess.
Kade holds on tight to the sides!

Sweet little man got all tuckered out from playing with daddy so he fell asleep before he made it to the horses this time.

First Mothers Day

Today was my first mothers day with our little man. It was so much fun, and although I think the day is to help other people remember how important mothers are, to me it was just a reminder how grateful I am to be a mommy. I love my little man more than I could express, and although being a mommy is very very hard work it's such a blessing. I feel like my life was shallow and meaningless before I had the tiny man to teach and care for and help him grow up to be happy. ANYway... back to our day. Sweet Andy made me breakfast before church (he even made it healthy cause he knows I'm trying to eat good)
After church, (which was nice because I didn't have to teach so I got to actually listen to the lesson). We hung out at home and played in the yard and got some sun, and Kade tried out his new big boy chair (see post below). Kade rolled over again once for the first time in weeks. Then I got to talk to my brother clay who is on a mission. It was especially fun because he's coming home in a little over a month so it was fun to make plans for when he gets back. YAY!!! Then Andy gave me my mothers day present. First the card that he and Andy made, which Kade chewed on before he'd hand over.

Then I got my gift, a sewing machine! just like I asked for! Andy thought that was a super nerdy gift, but he got it cause he knew I'd been asking for one forever.

On Friday I got another sweet gift from my sister who sent me flowers cause it was my first mothers day and she's so thoughtful. Kade liked them, he really wanted to chew them and kept burring his face in them and giggling.
After some relaxing, we went and had a delicious dinner at Michael and Paige Kenyon's house. They are some friends from the ward who are about our age and are due with their first baby (a son) in about 6 weeks. So excited to meet Kades new little friend! It was fun to eat and talk and Kade was such a good boy. It was the first really warm evening and he sat quietly and played on the picnic bench the whole time we talked.
I love my sweet little family. I'm so happy to have my baby son and my sweet husband. Today the bishop quoted a talk about how to be a good parent and he said, talking to the men, that the best way to raise good children is to love their mother. Andy is exemplifying that, my sweet husband is the best example for our son of how to be a good man.

Kade's chair for big boy food

We recently got Kade a highchair to start solid food. I've read a little bit about starting solids ( I read to much about everything, can't help it, I like to be prepared) and they suggested that it's a good idea to let them sit in their high chair for a little while before starting solids so they can get used to it if they didn't like it. Luckily for us, Kade had no problem with it. he just seemed to be a little confused what to do in there.

Then I gave him one of his baby spoons to get the hang of and he loved that! He thinks being a big boy is great fun!

From what I've read, they say you can let him play in there as long as he's happy, but then take him out the minute he starts fussing, cause you don't wanna associate bad feelings with eating. However I don't really know that I wanna promote the eating area being play time where we just mess around and be silly. Eat time should be eat time and play time should be play time in my opinion, but we'll get to that teaching later I suppose.

He played for a few minutes before he was done in his big boy chair.

Rollin Rollin...

So about two weeks ago, Kade rolled over from his tummy to his back. I think it only happened because he hates tummy time so much that he's willing to do anything to get out of it. I set him on the ground on his tummy and walked to the kitchen and came back to see him playing on his back. Silly boy! That was on April 20th, then the next day he did the same thing at church in front of Andy and I both. But it's been two weeks and he hasn't rolled once since then? Weird. He has however learned that he can scoot a little on his back. He digs in with his heels and pushed himself around a bit like that. Pretty resourceful of him to figure out how to get around a little bit without having to ever be on his tummy. :) Only trouble is all the hair is worn off the back of his head.  It's like the reverse of the old guy bay around the sides, he's bald around the back with hair on top. haha
This is a rare picture of him not hating tummy time.

Andy set up all his toys around him and Kade was yelling and growling at them, and Andy was pretending that he was having a secret meeting and organizing his troups. It was funny and cute.

Kade and His Swing

Kade got a swing from some friends of mine and he LOVES it. I feel guilty how much he sits in it. It's not that I'm neglecting him, it's just that he loves it so much that some times that's the only way he can calm down or fall asleep. I go to a mothers group of quite a few moms who are what I'd call "granola-y" and they are always talking about how it's neglecting and call it the baby sitter with batteries. Oh well, they can just walk off a cliff in their Birkenstocks. ;)
Anyway, recently he's started swinging like a weirdo with his neck all the way back so he can see the animals above better. Only trouble is he gets it stuck then gets really angry. He loves those little animals.
